A Letter to Our Supporters

March 11, 2020

“God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear…”

Psalm 46:1–2

Dear friends of Campus House,

You may have heard that Purdue University is taking proactive measures to minimize the spread of COVID-19. These procedures include moving classes online post-Spring Break and canceling University-sponsored trips and gatherings with more than 50 people. In light of President Daniels’ letter outlining Purdue’s protocol, the Campus House staff and board have been in conversations to determine how these policies affect our lives as followers of Jesus, both individually and corporately. We seek to honor the University and its policies in regard to the health and safety of the campus.

First and foremost, we are resting in the hope, peace, and help of Christ and His Kingdom for wisdom and discernment moving forward. This is an unprecedented time and an opportunity for the Body of Christ (and Campus House, in particular) to push back against the stream of fear, confusion and misinformation. We are committing to pray for our campus, community, and world, asking God for His grace and mercy to guide us through this season of uncertainty.

With reliance on Jesus as our framework for decision-making, we will continue to develop plans that are incremental, mobile, and flexible. Many details are still in process as we evaluate a situation that changes daily, but here are a few pieces that we wanted to communicate with you in the interim.

Upcoming Trips
We have decided to cancel the Spring Break trip to the Smoky Mountains and the Ireland Vision Trip this May in alignment with Purdue’s travel procedures. This is a potential hit of thousands of dollars, not to mention the grief of missing out on all God accomplishes each year in students’ hearts through these opportunities.

Sunday Services
We will NOT meet all together for Sunday services for the remainder of the spring semester, including our final service (Goodbye Sunday) in the building April 5th. This decision weighs heavily on our hearts as a church community. We are developing ways to live stream Sunday “living room” services, potentially meet as smaller house churches, and provide broader encouragement and methods of online engagement through the spring and summer. In place of Goodbye Sunday, we will find a way to celebrate the legacy of Campus House with alums and supporters online. Stay tuned for more details.

FAQs & Updates
We plan to periodically update FAQs at pcch.org/covid19 and post on our Facebook and Instagram pages as decisions are made. For specific questions, feel free to visit our staff directory and connect with individual members of our team.

Prayer Points
Please pray for those affected by COVID-19, that they would, in the words of pastor Pete Greig, “know Your presence in their isolation, Your peace in their turmoil and Your patience in their waiting.” Pray for Christians on campus to be conduits of Jesus’ love and agents of reconciliation in the midst of confusion and fear. Pray for Purdue’s administration, medical professionals, national and international leaders, and others involved in promoting the health and safety of all people against this virus. And pray that we, as the Campus House community, would be creative and cohesive as we seek to love well and point each other and this campus to Jesus.

We love you all!
